An effective Board, together with paid staff and an engaged membership, creates a powerful whole.
Co-opportunity Board members fill a critical role, but they do not handle they day-to-day management or operational details of the stores (product selection, pricing, hiring, etc.). The Board operates using the Policy Governance® model, which was developed to allow Boards to maintain accountability for organizational performance while focusing on providing visionary work around our ‘big-picture’ ends policies. The Board exercises its responsibilities through its relationship with the General Manager, whom it hires and oversees.

Meet the Board
The Board is made up of 9 directors. Three board members are elected each year for a three-year term. Our Board is comprised of members that serve because of their passion for, and belief in the cooperative business model. They also happen to love shopping at our stores!
