Board Secretary
Michelle Jacobson was first elected to the Board in 1989 and served until 2015. After a three-year hiatus, she was re-elected in 2018. She has served on other cooperative boards including Associated Cooperatives, Inc. and Twin Pines Cooperative Foundation.
Michelle was a restaurant owner at the time she joined the Board of Co-opportunity. Throwing away thousands of glass beer bottles daily motivated her to work with the city of Santa Monica to establish a commercial recycling program. Her restaurant, McGinty’s Irish Pub, was the first business in Santa Monica to participate.
After 15 years in the restaurant business, she moved into community relations and philanthropy in higher education and continues to enjoy developing and strengthening relationships with passionate and big-hearted individuals. A three-degree alumna, Michelle began working in fundraising at UCLA in 2001 and is currently the Director of Development for the Cotsen Institute of Archaeology at UCLA.
Michelle is the proud mother of three Samohi graduates. On weekends she is often exploring the historic core of downtown Los Angeles with her architectural historian and photographer husband, Anthony Caldwell.
