Sabor Mexicano

Founded by Jorge Saldana, whose Bay Area restaurants Cancun Sabor Mexicano and Tlaloc Sabor Mexicano built a loyal following for scratch-made salsas and chips. In 2011 he launched Sabor Mexicano Foods so customers could take his HomeMade tortilla chips and salsas home. The brand partners with a woman-owned business in Mexico City that employs elderly people and women with disabilities.

Solely

Founded by Simón Sacal, who began by making healthy snacks accessible to kids in Mexican communities where fresh fruit was scarce. Solely’s fruit jerky uses a patented cold-pressing process to turn whole fruit into a single-ingredient snack with no added sugar. The brand says its process now saves over a million pounds of fruit a year that would otherwise go to waste.

Tia Lupita

Founded by Hector Saldivar, a Monterrey, Mexico native who bottled his mother’s (his “Tia Lupita’s”) family hot sauce recipe after moving to the U.S., named the hot sauce after her to honor his family’s legacy. The brand grew into grain-free tortillas and chips made with nopal cactus, a sustainable, drought-resistant crop. It’s now sold in thousands of stores nationwide, including Co-opportunity Market.

Fun Fact: The logo pays homage to his mom who would walk around with hair curlers on while she cooked.

Bueno Foods (Tamales)

Founded in 1951 in Albuquerque by brothers Joe, Ray, and Augustine Baca, who turned their mother Filomena’s tamale and burrito recipes into a family business after WWII. They were the first to flame-roast and freeze green chile on a commercial scale, letting people enjoy it year-round. Now led by the second generation, Bueno still stone-grinds corn and hand-makes tamales using traditional methods passed down for generations. Inka Chips

Made by Inka Crops, founded in Peru in 2000 to showcase Andean, coastal, and Amazonian snacks like plantain chips and toasted Cusco corn. The plantains are grown and harvested in the Peruvian Amazon near the Ucayali River. Their heirloom Giant White Corn comes from the Sacred Valley near Cusco and carries a protected designation of origin. Enjoy as a topper for salads or straight from the bag.

Bee Grateful Farm

A family-run farm near Steamboat Springs, Colorado, started by beekeepers Hethir and Jason Rodriguez. Their 100% honey-sweetened caramels is all-natural, they simply rely on local wildflower honey, grass-fed cream, and Utah sea salt. What began at farmers markets has grown into a nationally sold candy brand, still handcrafted in small batches. Their commitment to sustainability is what makes them a great addition to the Co-op storefront: supporting local beekeepers, using a solar powered kitchen, and love for the environment and pollinator friends.

Chosen Foods

An avocado oil brand rooted in the volcanic soil of Central Mexico, where it works with over 1,000 farmers who grow more than 350 million avocados a year. Co-founder Sioma Waisburd helped start the company in 2011 partly to address health challenges common in the Hispanic community. Bruised or imperfect avocados that would otherwise be wasted are used to make the oil, reducing food waste.

Founded by siblings Miguel and Veronica Garza and their mother Aida in Laredo, Texas, after Veronica developed a grain-free tortilla to keep eating the Mexican-American foods she grew up with. The name “Siete” honors the seven family members behind it.
